Who could do with a bit of colour to cheer up the grey?
I certainly could!
I’ve been wearing my finished Hey Now Sweater absolutely NON-STOP since it came off my needles just before we went to Unravel. The Mustard yellow Something to Knit With Aran just makes me beam with joy. I am so pleased with it!
The design is by Lily Kate France, who I was lucky enough to work with back when she was just 12. We got chatting on Instagram a few months ago, and I sent her some of our Aran yarn to play with, and this design is the result. I shared her photos when we launched our Spring into Colour KAL a few weeks ago, but this is the first chance I’ve had to show you my version.
The sweater is worked from the top down, and the colourwork fits perfectly with the raglan shaping. It’s very pleasing!!
The sleeves have a lovely colourwork section that decreases the generous sleeves down to the cuff. This is a really cosy sweater that is like a big squishy hug to wear. When I need something to kick-start my morning, this is the first thing I reach for. It made me smile while I was knitting it, and it makes me smile to wear it.
The bottom of the sweater features a split hem with a clever trick for separating the front and back. The pattern includes a full photo tutorial on how to work the split, and it’s a trick you will want to use again!
So that’s my first finished project in our Spring Into Colour KAL! Have you made a plan for a cheery project? Do you have a pattern you’d love to knit? There’s already lots of chatter in our Ravelry group, with nearly 50 pattern suggestions as well as some lovely projects.
If you want to join me in knitting your own Hey Now Sweater, then we have kits including the yarn, pattern and a project bag over in our online shop. The kits are over 25% off compared with purchasing the items separately, and if you’d like to request a different colourway, please just drop us a line here and we will sort you out!
Alternatively, you can buy the pattern directly from Lily over on Ravelry: Hey Now Sweater
Wherever you knit this weekend, may your stitches be cooperative! Happy knitting!
