This is how we dip (a dip stitch video tutorial)

Dip stitches add a terrific textural element to the surface of your hand knits, and offer lots of possibility for play — and they are the featured technique for this month’s Boost Your Knitting pattern, the Apple Swizzle Hat by Thea Colman.

In today’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to work delightful dips. I’ll cover how to accurately count your rows (dip stitches are always worked into the fabric below your needle), how to work left and right leaning dips, and also demonstrate how to work the “dip down 3” that features in the Apple Swizzle Hat.

I hope you found the tutorial useful, and if you’ve not yet worked a dip stitch, I dare you to give it a try! I bet you won’t be able to work just one — it’s such a fun and surprisingly simple way to add a little extra pizzazz to your knitting!

And of course, if you’re intrigued by Boost Your Knitting, you can join the fun at anytime.
