Video: Using stitch markers in lace knitting

Stitch markers are one of the most useful tools in knitting. Whether you're keeping track of shaping elements in a garment, or establishing a lace pattern, these simple rings, or even just a loop of waste yarn, can instantly make a pattern more straightforward.

The video below is the second in our Something New to Learn About Lace series, and explains how to use stitch markers to keep track of your lace knitting. It shows a basic pattern where the markers will stay in place throughout the pattern repeat, as well as a pattern where the placement of increases and decreases around the pattern repeat means that the markers need to move (like the Myrtle Lace pattern in the swatch above).

You can pre-order Something New to Learn About Lace for £14.00 plus shipping, which gives you the print book and a complimentary ebook. The print copies will ship from Thursday 7th June and the ebook will be uploaded before then. The swatches in the video and all of the projects in Something New to Learn About Lace are worked in our new Something to Knit With 4ply yarn, which costs £8.00 per 50g skein, and you can find a selection of useful accessories for lace knitting over in our online shop.
