What's Next for Confident Knitting?
We’re well into September now, which means the digital, every-month-a-surprise portion of Confident Knitting has come to an end … but the learning and fun certainly hasn’t! Ebook updates have landed and print copies are landing with customers across the world. Let’s have a peek at what we’ll be learning over the next stages of the journey.
We’ve kicked off the autumn season of Confident Knitting with my own design, the Moorland Socks.
Perfect for wandering the moor or just curling up on the couch, these cuff-down socks are designed to let self-striping yarn do the work for you, with a fun and extra comfy garter stitch short-row heel.
Come October, we’re diving into mosaic knitting with Marceline Smith’s earthy Terrain Mitts. Mosaic knitting is a clever technique for colourwork where you only use one colour at a time. The video tutorial for this will be released on Friday 1st October.
Knitted in J&S 2ply Shetland Supreme or Jumper Weight, these are toasty fingerless mitts that will keep you or a loved one warm all season long!
With two relatively small projects under our belt, we’ll tackle something just a wee bit larger…
Emily K. Williams’ Findhorn Wrap is the perfect introduction to modular knitting, with a bonus appearance of the Russian join! The wrap calls for Coop Knits Socks Yeah! 4ply in five colours, and we have a plethora of options available.
And that brings us on to Winter…
What better way to kick off our final season of Confident Knitting than with the Stellar Hat, a modern colourwork design from Gudrun Johnston? We’ll learn a clever cast on that is stretchy and looks perfect with rib, then relax into some colourwork that is, well stellar! Gudrun’s design uses J&S 2ply Jumper Weight, so you will be spoiled for choice in terms of potential colourways!
Our final two projects focus on cosy accessories for the home – perfect for working on during long winter nights. Jimenez Joseph’s Saturnus Cushions use clever grab stitches to create two terrifically textured pillows using beautiful hand-dyed from Third Vault Yarns.
And Carol Feller’s Prime Blanket is a basketweave beauty with a fun little pocket and i-cord trim… perfect as a lap blanket or for a special little person! The Nua yarn that this fun blanket uses is dreamy soft and we can’t wait to swathe ourselves in its yak, linen and merino loveliness.
We hope you enjoy planning an autumn and winter of Confident Knitting! If you’d like all the yarn for the projects to arrive in one handy package, we’ve got Autumn and Winter kits available in two gorgeous colourways! And of course, you can get your hands on a copy of Confident Knitting for £20+shipping over in our online shop.
Thank you to everyone who has kindly left reviews for Confident Knitting. They mean a huge amount to us and are really helpful for other customers. Your support is much appreciated, and enables us to keep producing video tutorials and blog posts.
