We are happily knitting along on our lace projects
It seems like every time I log in to my Ravelry account there are loads more posts in the Lace KAL thread! It's a chatty place with no end of inspiring lace projects, hints and tips. If you don't fancy wading through all of the chatter, then I highly recommend clicking the button at the top of the thread so that you can browse through just the photos in the thread, which gives you a more manageable 145 posts (rather than the 1200ish in the whole thread!).
There is a feast of beautiful lace knitting to inspire you, and there are still three weeks in which to dive into the knitalong. Plus our knitalongs never really end – the threads stay open, or you can pop over to the What are you knitting? thread instead. There will still be plenty of encouragement available, long after the end of August.
Are you ready to see some lovely projects? If you click on the images they will take you to the project pages on Ravelry, where you will find heaps more information about the patterns and yarns used, and you can also add projects to your favourites while you are there.
Debi has finished a delicate pink Nissolia Shawl by Martina Behm. She used our Something to Knit With yarn in Cheeks and Blanket, which she really enjoyed knitting with.
Anne has worked on a number of beautiful lace projects during the KAL. This is her Lerwick Harbour half hap blocking, in lovely cool shades of green and purple.
Maggie has finished her True Colors shawl, a popular design by Melanie Berg, and she has used some Kauni Effektgarn to great effect! I love this project. :)
Katherine is working on Traigh by Kate Davies, partly as distraction from finishing off her PhD thesis. There were an impressive number of PhDs chatting about this process over in the thread! I think a nice summer lace shawl is the perfect accompaniment to any kind of deadline. You're nearly there Katherine, keep it up!
Angelika is making great progress on the lace edging of her Nissolia shawl by Martina Behm! She is practising working the WS rows by reverse knitting – a great way to avoid constantly turning your work on short rows like these.
Cassie has finally made it to the lace panel on the front of her Pont Neuf cardigan by Emily Wessel (this is such a stunning design!). It was such a fun lace pattern that Cassie stayed up late to finish the panel. :D
A number of people used the lace knitalong to make progress on things for special occasions... Nancy knitted this lovely lace shrug for her wedding, although it was far too hot to wear it for more than a photo on the day! She based the shrug on the Reawick Scarf by Kathleen Anderson, and it looks lovely with her dress. Congratulations and all our best wishes Nancy!
And finally, Claire has knitted this beautiful Somerled by Kate Davies, to wrap up her granddaughters at a family wedding this summer. It really is a stunning piece of knitting, and one that will keep babies warm for years to come!
Huge thanks to everyone who has joined the knitalong threads, or browsed and clicked love buttons. You all contribute to the friendly and welcoming space that I hope our Ravelry group to be. There are three weeks to go until we award knitalong prizes, so if you haven't already, post a picture in the thread, and make sure your project is tagged SN2LAL on Ravelry. You can see all of the projects that are tagged for the lace knitalong here on Ravelry: SN2LAL projects
We will be away now for a couple of weeks, so the blog will go quiet, but we will be recharged and back with a vengeance at the start of September. Our online shop will stay open throughout our break, with thanks to Sheila who will be shipping orders, and we have some exciting new books arriving shortly, so stay tuned...
Happy (summer) knitting!
